Seaweed is Cellulite's Enemy!
Seaweed is Cellulite’s Enemy!
Did you know? Cellulite affects more than 80% of the women in the world? There isn’t one ethnicity that isn’t affected by cellulite.
What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is an area or pocket of excess body fat that is trapped between the layers in your skin. This usually happens on the back of your thighs and buttocks; where blood circulation isn’t strong enough to flush excess toxins, water and fat out of your body.
When the excess fat gets trapped, it is surrounded by a mucus membrane which is why cellulite is so hard to get rid of; the membrane is extremely strong and stores the excess fat very well.
What can I do to get rid of cellulite?
Let’s face facts first: If your mom has cellulite chances are you will or already do have it. Here are a few guidelines to prevent cellulite at home:
1. Exercise - this not only maintains a healthy body weight, but it stimulates circulation and flushes out excess body fat that your body doesn’t need to store.
2. Drink Water - Drink your 8 glasses of water a day and help flush out excess toxins.
3. Avoid Sugar - Sugar stimulates insulin production and tells the body to store carbohydrates as excess fat. Eating a healthy diet with sugar in moderation is recommended to avoid producing excess fat and having it turn into cellulite.
4. Crossing your legs - I know as women we’ve always been told to sit with your legs crossed “like a lady” but did you know it can slow blood circulation in the back of your legs and has even been linked to causing varicose veins? (that’s another blog topic in itself!) Sit at your desk with your legs together, and not crossed - you’ll be doing your legs a big favour!
Of course, these are only recommended. If you’re not ready for lypo-suction, a visit to the spa for a seaweed body wrap will also work towards ridding your body of excess body weight and can be used as a slimming treatment.
Seaweed has been used as a natural detoxifying treatment for centuries. The seaweed that is predominately used “Laminaria Digitata” causes the human body to sweat and be stimulated; therefore, removing toxins, excess waste and water from your body. “Fucus” which is a brown algae is also commonly used and has been shown to stimulate metabolism; therefore being used as a common slimming treatment.
Incorporating a seaweed body wrap into a healthy lifestyle that you follow at home is a fast and natural way to improve the look, texture and tone of your skin as well as help to decrease the amount of excess water you may be carrying around.
A seaweed body wrap is not a promise or a cure all to make you “super model thin” but it is an excellent way to jump start a slimming program while incorporating a healthy diet and exercise into your daily life.
