How to Achieve Perfect Polish

Have you ever wondered how to get the most out of your polish application at home? Here are some helpful tips in achieving that perfect polish you want at home:
  • Before you apply anything, make sure your nails are completely free of any product or polish. Wipe each nail with a non-acetone polish remover or rubbing alcohol to neutralize any oils that could be hanging around on the nail bed.
  • Next, apply a base coat. This helps prevent discoloration of the nail and gives the polish a better base to adhere too, similar to priming a wall before painting.
  • Apply your favorite color in three stokes, up the middle then each side getting as close to the cuticle as possible without actually touching it. Avoid the urge to go over the area repeatedly. Wait a few minutes and then apply your second coat the same way.
  • Give yourself a few moments to relax and let the polish set, and then apply a top coat. Remember to use as few strokes as possible to prevent dragging the polish! You can also do a stroke along the end of the nail to seal the tip. The top coat will seal the color in helping to prevent chipping and giving a beautiful shiny finish to your now perfect nails!
  • If you happen to do a Not So Perfect application, just use a Q-Tip or orange wood stick with some polish remover and tidy it up.
  • Reapply the top coat every few days to keep your manicure looking fresh.

Remember, whether you're doing it yourself or having it done professionally, the key to long lasting polish is in the preparation!

Beautify Your Hands and Nails

With spring comes spring cleaning and working in the garden. Here are some tips for keeping your hands and nails healthy and beautiful.

Always wear gloves when cleaning, washing dishes, or working in the garden. Not only do gloves help protect our hands and nails from water, they also prevent bacteria from getting under nails.

The more you hydrate your nails, the more they become flexible and the less likely they will break. So, if you don't like wearing gloves, leave a bottle of hand cream next to the sink to remind yourself to moisturize.

To prevent sunspots or premature aging on your hands, be sure to apply sunscreen to the back of your hands.

If your nails are weak, file them into a square shape with rounded corners as it is the strongest nail shape.

Nails are brittle or cuticles are splitting? No worries. Massage cuticle oil or lotion and gently push the cuticles back. The gentle massaging action will ensure that your cuticles are loose and encourage nails to grow straight and healthy. It also stimulates nail cell growth. You can easily fit this into your daily routine by doing this while watching TV. After a while, you nails will grow faster, stronger, and healthier.

Gel Nails Take A Twist at Le Petit Spa

Looking for a nail treatment that will strengthen and protect your nails from breakage?

Many people will experience weak nails at some point in their lifetime. Stress, poor diet or medication can all cause nails to break, stop growing or become brittle and peel which can be stressful in itself if you aren’t exactly sure as to what’s causing it.

There are many great nail strengthening products on the market these days, such as Nail Envy by OPI which protects your nails and covers your nail bed with a high gloss shine.

The newest nail strengthening treatment on the market comes in gel form: Bio Sculpture Gel Nails are a first of its kind as they double as a nail strengthening treatment as well as gel nails.

How are Bio Sculpture Gel Nails different than regular gel nails?

Not only do they give an appearance of long, strong natural nails; they are an actual overlay that protects your natural nail while they grow out strong and healthy.

They come in a range of colors, and you can choose from a natural look, or a French Manicure look (which is perfect for
brides!).

Bio Sculpture Gel Nails are the first of its kind to also receive a five star safety rating for the client and the technician as there are no chemical fumes omitted, no inhalation of dust particles or odours.

The History of the French Manicure

When you think of “French Manicure” do you automatically think of a set of false nails?

Well, the truth is that a French Manicure is actually painted on to your nail. There is no use of false nails that can damage your natural nail bed and no harsh chemicals are used either.

What you get is a set of glamorous looking, clean polished nails that are perfect for your wedding day.

The History behind the French Manicure

Although the term “manicure” has been around for about 5,000 years, the origin of the “French Manicure” is not certain. There are claims that it first appeared in the 1930’s to give French society women a clean yet polished look for their hands. Another idea is that when you add the word “French” to anything, it instantly becomes chic and sophisticated.

Whichever the case, it is truly the ultimate sign of class and sophistication. And there is no better time to have one like on your wedding day.

A Le Petit Spa French Manicure starts of with cuticle work, nail work, a luxurious soak, a Lavender Sea Salt Scrub, a relaxing massage and the polish application...read more on Le Petit Spa Bridal Services

Where Medi meets Pedi at Le Petit Spa

New to Le Petit Spa, a new line of foot products made to mimic the skin’s own natural composition. Delivering the most active ingredients possible, with no greasy outer layer left on the skin; the skin retains its ability to transpire normally.

This new line of foot products?
Footlogix.

These products help increase the elasticity of the skin on your feet, therefore allowing the skin to become perfectly healthy and be able to perform its true function of Protection.

These products are easily absorbed, do not impede the natural functions of the skin (like oily and greasy creams and salves can) and socks can be worn immediately after application.

Creams or greasy salves create an Occlusive seal, cutting off oxygen to the skin and inhibiting the skin from performing it’s natural functions. The healing rate of fissures or other foot problems is dramatically reduced due to poor compliance with the skin. This also takes place when Vaseline, or petroleum jelly is used as a moisturizer, it does not penetrate into the skin; rather, it stays on the surface and does not allow the skin to perform its functions.

The Footlogix line of professional spa foot products contains cream foams for very dry skin to a sweaty feet formula. The line also features a shoe and foot deodorant.

The Footlogix line of professional foot care products is designed to provide effective care for a variety of skin conditions affecting the foot – from simple dryness to more severe conditions resulting from Diabetes – all products in this range are safe for Diabetic use. Le Petit Spa uses the Footlogix line of professional foot care in all of their
day spa pedicure services.

Check out Le Petit Spa’s
“Toes Day “promotion. A Tuesday featuring pedicures at one of Vancouver’s Best day spas: Le Petit Spa. When you come into Le Petit Spa for a pedicure on a Tuesday and purchase any Footlogix product, you will receive 15% off the total of the two.
